John Doughty is the latest addition to Kline May Realty, having undergone training and mentoring by several agents in the company. He is a 1991 graduate of James Madison University and has been involved in Christian ministry in Harrisonburg at the Ekklesia of Christ congregation and abroad (Russia & Ukraine) for over 30 years. John brings a pastor’s touch to the real estate business with his love for people and a genuine desire to help others in their dream of homeownership.
John’s favorite quote is from the humorist Will Rogers, “I never met a man I didn’t like.” He can usually be found at the local convenience store striking up a conversation with friends and strangers on the topic of the day. He is interested in sports, history, archeology, science, politics, and religion.
A former wrestling standout from John Handley High School in Winchester, he wrestled one year for JMU (1989-1990) and was a boxer in the Baltimore, MD area. In 1990, he led an expedition to Mount Ararat, Turkey, in search of Noah’s Ark. He is an avid football enthusiast and combined with a passion for teaching young people, has worked as a Rockingham County Rec League volunteer, coaching football and basketball for fifteen years. He also drives a bus for Rockingham schools.
John was recruited to Kline May by his wife Lana Doughty. They have nine children. He points to the sign on the Kline May wall, “service, not sales” as epitomizing the best philosophy for any business, particularly real estate. He is especially proud of the fact that he will be working for the same company who helped his wife and him over twenty years ago to purchase their first home in Rockingham County.
