Disciples Kitchen
Disciples Kitchen at Second Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro, VA is a local soup kitchen open to individuals and families in need of a hot meal. According to Rev. Caitilin Hoy, “There’s a lot of needs here and people are hungry, people are cold, and some of them wondering where their next meal is coming from." Over 120,000 meals and fourteen years later, they’ve served many members of our community, and even offer non-food items like socks and other personal care products.
Karen Carpenter, Managing Broker at Kline May Realty, and her dedicated team recently joined the volunteers at Disciples Kitchen for a special day. They donated soup, sandwiches, cookies and other goodies to serve around forty five people a hot lunch to combat the chilly weather! Karen shared, “After we came the first time and saw who was coming through the lines and what it meant to them, it put things into perspective with the need in the community but also how fortunate we are to be able to come over and serve.”
At Kline May Realty, one of our goals is to affiliate ourselves with agents who have a “servant’s heart”. We are dedicated to serving our clients in not just their real estate needs. In chatting with us, Sharon Thorn, Church Member and Monitor for Disciples Kitchen, said, “It makes us feel so good that they support us in our mission to help those in need”.
